My grandmother loved hummingbirds and flowers. When at home, she would wear small scissors on a string around her neck, ready to cut out images of the birds from fancy papers, to be used in card-making and paper crafts. The hummingbirds were so pervasive, they’ve become something of a family emblem among us cousins, and there, I suppose, was the impulse for this dress.
